Benedict Arnold

A Difficult Truth in History

Before the name became synonymous with betrayal, Benedict Arnold was one of the most daring and capable officers in the early Continental Army.

Nowhere was that more evident than during the Quebec Expedition of 1775.

This is the Arnold before the fall.

The one who fought.

The March Through the Wilderness

In one of the most grueling operations of the Revolutionary War, Arnold led a force through the Maine wilderness toward Quebec.

  • Harsh winter conditions
  • Starvation and disease
  • Impassable terrain
  • Men collapsing along the route

Still… he pushed forward.

The Assault on Quebec

On December 31, 1775, American forces launched a desperate attack on the city of Quebec during a blinding snowstorm.

  • Arnold was wounded early in the assault
  • Leadership passed as the battle raged on
  • The attack ultimately failed—but not for lack of courage

It was one of the boldest early attempts to expand the Revolution into Canada.

A Soldier’s Complexity

History remembers Arnold for what came later.

But at Quebec, he was:

  • courageous
  • relentless
  • committed to the cause

And the men who followed him through that frozen wilderness knew him as a leader willing to endure everything they did.

Reflection

Before history turned on him… he helped carry it forward.

The story of America isn’t simple.

It’s built on triumph, struggle… and complicated men.

mickyspano.com and The Micky Spano Show present a pre-traitor named Colonel Benedict Arnold, Continental Army, as Veteran of the Day for April 28, 2026, recognizing his courage and leadership during the Invasion of Quebec.
