Today we honor Corporal Claude Hicks Belcher, a proud U.S. Army Soldier who gave his life in Korea on February 12, 1951, while serving with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.

Casualty records place his loss in the Hoengsong area, during a brutal period of fighting as UN forces faced major enemy offensives in central Korea.

He was 22 years old when he made the ultimate sacrifice.

IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS

Some heroes are remembered by headlines. Others are remembered by the quiet way communities say their name, year after year, because they never forgot.

From Maryland to the frozen hills of Korea, CPL Belcher stepped forward when his country called. Today we honor his courage, his duty, and the life he gave so others could live.
