HONORING HIS SERVICE
On January 22, 1968, Private First Class Alfred Donnelly Jr was killed in action while serving with the United States Marine Corps in the Republic of Vietnam.

PFC Donnelly was a member of 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, one of the primary units defending the Khe Sanh Combat Base during the opening days of what would become one of the most intense and historic battles of the Vietnam War.

Just one day after the official start of the Battle of Khe Sanh, Marine positions were under constant artillery, mortar, and ground pressure from North Vietnamese forces. It was during this critical phase of the siege that PFC Donnelly made the ultimate sacrifice.

IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS
From the streets of Boston, Massachusetts, to the hills and defensive lines of Quang Tri Province, Alfred Donnelly Jr represents the thousands of young Marines who stood their ground under extraordinary conditions.

He was 19 years old.

His name is forever engraved on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., a permanent reminder that freedom has a cost measured in lives, not just history books.
