Service and Sacrifice
SSgt Fair served with Marine Observation Squadron 3 (VMO-3), a unit known for operating light observation aircraft and supporting Marines on the ground with reconnaissance and coordination.
On January 18, 1968, he died while serving in the I Corps/DMZ region (listed as Offshore, MR I), a period when the north was tightening toward the major clashes soon to follow.
