Service and Sacrifice
On January 11, 1968, SN Roy B. Keith was part of a joint PBR-SEAL operation (described in a remembrance as “Quick Kill”) along the Bassac River area in the Mekong Delta region. During the assault on enemy bunker positions, he was killed in action after being hit by AK-47 fire.
This was the kind of mission that rarely makes a headline, but it’s the kind that shaped the war in countless rivers, hamlets, and midnight contacts. It demanded speed, precision, and the willingness to step into danger so others could make it home.
Reflection
Some names on the Wall belong to battles everyone remembers.
Others belong to the fights most people never hear about, the ones that still took everything.
Today, we honor Seaman Roy Benjamin Keith.
We remember his courage.
And we speak his name.
