Veteran of the Day — December 22, 2025

Kenneth Earl “Ken” Lawson

United States Army
Vietnam War Veteran

Born: May 14, 1947 – Fort Wayne, Indiana
Passed: December 18, 2025
Age: 78

Service to Country

Kenneth Earl Lawson served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, answering the call at a time when service often came with uncertainty and little public support back home.

Ken served with a maintenance and transportation unit, helping keep vehicles, equipment, and supplies moving in an environment where breakdowns could mean danger for everyone involved. His work was essential to daily operations, ensuring that others could do their jobs safely and effectively.

Life After Vietnam

After returning home, Ken settled back in northeastern Indiana, where he focused on building a stable life rooted in hard work and responsibility.

He spent more than 30 years working in industrial maintenance, becoming known as the guy who could fix just about anything. Coworkers trusted him, supervisors relied on him, and younger workers learned by watching how he approached every task with patience and pride.

Family & Character

Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He believed in showing love through action rather than words — fixing things around the house, helping neighbors, and always being available when family needed him.

He enjoyed woodworking, restoring old tools, fishing local lakes, and quiet mornings with coffee. Like many Vietnam veterans, he rarely spoke about his time overseas, but he carried deep respect for those who served beside him.

Veteran Brotherhood

Ken remained quietly proud of his service and stayed connected to fellow veterans through local American Legion activities, valuing camaraderie and shared understanding more than ceremony or attention.

🌟 Reflection

Not all Vietnam veterans came home to applause.
Some came home, went to work, raised families, and carried memories they didn’t often share.

Kenneth Earl Lawson represents the generation that served when asked, returned home quietly, and spent a lifetime building something solid for the next generation.
