HONORING HIS SERVICE
On January 21, 1968, Private First Class Paul Melvin Beddoe Jr was killed in action while serving with the United States Marine Corps in the Republic of Vietnam.

PFC Beddoe was a Recon Marine with B Company, 3rd Recon Battalion, operating in Quang Tri Province during the opening days of the Khe Sanh battles. A detailed remembrance shared on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s Wall of Faces describes fierce combat near the Khe Sanh hill positions (including action involving Hill 881) and lists PFC Beddoe among those lost in that fight.

His name is etched in granite at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a permanent record that a young Marine from Medford, Oregon served, fought, and gave his life.

IN THEIR FOOTSTEPS
From Medford to Vietnam, Paul Beddoe represents the quiet steel of the Recon Marines, the ones asked to move ahead of the map and into the unknown. Today we honor him not only as a name on a wall, but as a son, a friend, a fellow American, and a Marine who answered the call when it mattered most.
