Veteran of the Day — March 23, 2026
Chris Kyle
Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy SEALs
Iraq War

The Watchful Guardian
Chris Kyle was not just a sniper.
He was overwatch—the unseen shield standing between chaos and the men on the ground.
Born in Texas in 1974, Kyle grew up with a strong sense of duty and eventually became a Navy SEAL, serving multiple tours in Iraq.
Iraq War — The Rooftops of Ramadi
During some of the most intense fighting in places like Ramadi and Fallujah, Kyle operated in one of the most dangerous roles on the battlefield.
From rooftops and concealed positions, he provided protection for U.S. Marines and soldiers moving through hostile territory.
• Credited with over 160 confirmed kills
• Countless lives saved through overwatch
• Targeted by enemy forces who placed a bounty on him
But numbers never told the real story.
Every shot he took was meant to protect someone else.
A Protector First
Kyle often said his job was simple:
Protect his brothers.
That meant long hours, extreme pressure, and decisions made in fractions of a second—decisions that meant life or death for those below him.
To the men he served with, he wasn’t just a sniper.
He was reassurance.
Life After Service
After leaving the military, Kyle dedicated his time to helping fellow veterans, particularly those struggling with the invisible wounds of war.
In 2013, he was tragically killed while trying to help another veteran.
Legacy
Chris Kyle’s legacy isn’t just about what he did in combat.
It’s about what he stood for:
Loyalty.
Protection.
Brotherhood.
He watched over others in war… and continued serving them in peace.
“He stood the watch so others could come home.”
