HONORING HIS SERVICE

On January 24, 1968, Private First Class George Joseph Holly III was killed in action while serving with the United States Army in the Republic of Vietnam.

PFC Holly gave his life during a critical period in the war. January 1968 marked the final days before the Tet Offensive erupted across South Vietnam. Enemy forces were maneuvering, probing, and preparing coordinated attacks that would soon change the course of the conflict.

Serving far from home at just 19 years old, PFC Holly stood his post in a combat zone that demanded courage daily. His sacrifice came at a time when tensions were escalating and danger was increasing across the country.
