Service and Sacrifice

SP4 Eldon Garamillo served with the 25th Infantry Division, one of the Army’s most heavily engaged divisions in Vietnam.

On the night of January 1–2, 1968, Eldon’s unit was among the American forces defending Fire Support Base Burt in Tây Ninh Province when a major enemy assault hit the base, a New Year’s attack that became one of the most intense fights of that period.

Eldon was killed in action on January 2, 1968, and his name is permanently engraved on the Wall in Washington, D.C.

🌟 Reflection

A New Year should begin with peace.
For SP4 Eldon Garamillo, it began with duty, danger, and the kind of courage that doesn’t get a countdown clock, only a moment of decision.

Today, we say his name out loud.
And we make sure it stays said.
