Specialist Four Paul Frederick Foulk grew up in Greenville, Pennsylvania, a small town that has given many of its sons and daughters to the cause of American freedom. Paul answered his country’s call during the Vietnam War and served as an artilleryman with Battery B, 1st Battalion, 21st Artillery, part of the famed 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).
Artillery units like Paul’s were the lifeline for American troops on the ground. When infantry units ran into enemy forces, it was the artillery that delivered powerful, precise fire support—often under dangerous conditions, often in the middle of the night, and often with very little warning. Paul’s job required technical skill, courage, and the willingness to stand his ground when others were depending on him.
On September 7, 1969, while serving in Phuoc Long Province, South Vietnam, Specialist Four Foulk was killed in action. His loss was felt deeply in both his unit overseas and his hometown back in Pennsylvania. Those who have left remembrances for him over the years describe him simply and beautifully as “a wonderful guy” and a good man taken far too soon.
Today, his name is etched forever on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., at Panel 18W, Line 54, where visitors can trace the letters of his name and remember the cost of our freedoms.
mickyspano.com/ and The Micky Spano Show proudly honor Specialist Four Paul Frederick Foulk, United States Army, as our Veteran of the Day for November 13, 2025.
We remember his service, his sacrifice, and the pride he brought to Greenville, Pennsylvania and to this great nation.
